I found a pretty clean 850 at a local dealer with 1100 hrs, and all original. No apparent problems whatsoever. He wants 7600.00 ??? Should I buy, or keep looking.

Just bought a 790, but looked for a long time. Dealer here has a 850 HST, FWD, former commercial use with same hours, but rough sheet metal, seat, etc for same price. Sounds like a good price, but as I am finding out, a good dealer is everything. Make sure you got a GOOD deere dealer in your area. ....

Sorry to come in late here, but I just bought a JD850 and have looked for a while. Mine is a '79 model with only 500 hours on it, though it has some scrapes and very minor rust. Also got a JD 506 rotary cutter (don't call it a Bush Hog), FMC 5' mower, JD 40 tiller, and a JD (?) 8" auger all for $6500. Bought from a private party. Classified ads for 850s seem to be running in the $5500 to $6500 range for just the tractor. ....
